I'm back! for now anyway.. It's not that I haven't been crafting, I just always forget to photograph it before giving it away! I am trying to be better.. I actually photographed a bunch of things for Etsy.. next step actually posting them! I missed my goal of Christmas.. maybe by next Christmas?!

I have a ton of accessory sewing patterns and ideas... my cube-mate is an avid sewer and very generous with her photocopies of all the patterns she buys! but I never really find the time to make them unless it is for a gift. Babci's birthday was the perfect excuse to make this scarflett! backed with cozy flannel it should keep her warm, inside and out!

Pillowcase Dress

My first piece of clothing made for Cora! And it will last pretty much forever! A pillowcase dress has a ribbon strung through as the straps, and it is long enough to adjust as they grow. I made her dress long so that as she grows it'll just get shorter but still fit due to the adjustable straps! Pretty sweet huh?! It can be worn as a dress and then years down the road as a tunic!

I used a a tutorial found here even though this method is supposedly a choking hazard, they also have tutorials that use elastic in the front and back.. but I wanted the traditional version, and seeing as she's never unsupervised she should be okay, that and unless she is really talented and can get out my double knotted bow!

The contrast bottom edge is actually a fabric that matches one of the birds! I may change the color of the ribbon.. now that I see it in photographs I can see it's not exactly a match!

I am also very proud of myself because I used french seams for the first time.. actually french seams that were then sewed down, which is called a flat felled seam. So fun! and such a nice finished look with no strings flying around everywhere!

She was a bit hard to photograph, now that she is walking she is in constant motion!

Warm Arms and Hands!

Since starting full blown knitting with Kelly months ago I have since started 3 kintting projects, this is the third I started and first I finished! My Grandma's Birthday Fingerless Mittens!! They were pretty fun to make, and now I want some! Caden picked out the yarn, it is hard to tell from the pictures but it is green and pink variegated (if that is the right word?!). I made them from two separate balls of yarn of the same lot, but they must have been dyed slightly differently as far as the length of each color because the two don't exactly match up with the striping starting at about the wrist.. that made me kind of sad.. but I still liked them and love them especially because I actually finished them!! Now my Grandma, who was already quite hip, will be even more stylin'! I found the pattern free here, but adjusted the pattern to end on the forearm rather than go super long up to the bicep!

It's been awhile, not to say I haven't been crafting, because I have.. just no pictures! I'm back in the bag business. In fact I just made a bag for a silent auction to benefit the construction of a new playground where my nieces and nephews live.

The problem is I fell in love with it! I might have to make myself one... except I have too many bags already. I hope it is well received at the auction. Bye-bye bag... I'll miss you!

Towel Bibs

This weekend we are going to a wedding where Cora will be wearing a pretty dress, and has to eat in it! So this was the perfect opportunity to get these towel bibs made up! I bought the towels on clearance at Target months ago and they've just been sitting around as you can tell from the wrinkles.. so instead of packing for our trip tomorrow obviously I whipped these up and am blogging about them! Here is one of the blogs where I found tips on making them. If I get a picture of Cora wearing one I'll update the post! They were cinch to make! This may go onto my shower gift or new baby arrival list!

What little girl wouldn't LOVE a tutu?! I almost want one for myself! There are a TON of tutorials out there to make them, and they are SO easy! Every special little girl I know is getting one for their birthday this year. Let the fun begin!

Flower Hat

I just love all the different flower hats sold on Etsy.. I want to buy one of every color.. so in order to save a dime or two I found a cute hat pattern and made them myself! So far I've made hats in yellow, off-white, aqua, baby pink and red!! I'm slowly collecting flowers when they are on sale or when I have a coupon! I have about five.. but this week they are half price at Michael's.. so a shopping I will go! I plan to put these into the craft fair...

Camera Strap Covers

Back in late spring/early summer Kelly and I took a digital photography course. To celebrate our last class and Kelly's birthday I made us camera strap covers! I of course didn't think of taking pictures of them until after I had already put it on my camera.. so whipping out the trusty point and shoot and I chose to take it's picture on a fairly boring background.. but you get the idea! They are super easy, and make telling your camera apart from everyone else's so much easier!! and of course make you look super trendy too! I got the idea for using fabric scraps for mine here, but there are loads of other tutorials out there for all one fabric ones. I turned the ends under and hemmed them rather than sewing through my strap though.

Hooded Towel

This is a hooded towel I made when my nephew Casey was born back in June... I also made one for my friend Laura's son Liam back in March (or was it April?!), but I totally forgot to take a picture of it! The 'L' was definitely much easier to applique on than the 'C'! Less curves and all! I used to crochet baby afghans for my friends and family's babies.. but with the kids, I just don't have time for that! I'm totally into quick and easy projects these days!

If you'd like to make a hooded towel too, follow this tutorial for hooded towels! There are tons out there, but I liked the monogramming. I ended up just cutting off part of the bottom of the big towel and using that to cut my triangle for the hood. But if you want to use a contrasting color you'll need the hand towel. You'll probably still want to cut off part of the big towel otherwise it's very large, and too long on one side! I ended up making my own binding so that it would match the baby's initial. But that makes the project take much longer.. if you are in a rush definitely use the pre-packaged stuff!

Are you pregnant? Because if you are one of these might be coming to you!! As soon as I learn the name that is!

Sewing Labels

I felt I needed to label my stuff.. I guess I went to camp too many years when I was younger!! But what better way to show off what you've done by reminding the recipient who made you that fantabulous gift! (If I do say so myself that is!!) Well.. I've decided to start a craft blog since I spend all this time being crafty, but not many people get to see the results! Most of the things I do are for gifts, so only the receiver sees it! Some day I hope to have an Etsy shop, but first I need to find the time to build a stock-pile! I'm sure you've guessed, but the Three C's Crafts is derived from our three kids... who's names all start with 'C'.. original I know! Here's hoping one of the kids will some day enjoy crafting/sewing/crocheting/scrapbooking/cooking.. or blogging!! Just as much as me! Enjoy!
